It’s a Good Day to Have Anpanman Juice
acrylic on canvas, 60 x 80 cm
It was mid-May in Kyoto, near the famous Fushimi-Inari Shrine. The weather was sunny, and as I wandered through the area, I came across a group of schoolchildren who were delighted to discover an Anpanman vending machine. They seemed to think it was the perfect day for an Anpanman drink, and I couldn’t help but agree. The scene felt like a perfect blend of joy and simplicity, with the characters fitting seamlessly into their world.
The sight brought back memories of my own childhood—watching Anpanman and reading manga featuring sailor uniforms. It was a moment steeped in nostalgia, evoking a sense of warmth and innocence from those earlier days. The green color of the surroundings seemed to symbolize life itself, a reminder that even the simplest things can stir deep feelings and memories.
